Adorable kitty!! :) Mine is lying next to me all cuddled up. So cute! I don't do anything fancy in collecting Valentine's day cards. The neatest thing I've ever done was last year when the Chinese New Years fell ON Valentine's day - so we decorated chinese take out boxes instead of bags.. Haha. It was cute! :) Hopefully I can get some cute ideas from reading your entries :) Thanks!

We use to have our kids make bags and decorate them. We have even done cereal boxes before and they turned out really cute. This year we are not allowed to do it b/c of the economy so we are going to show a movie and give them cookies and a juice.

I usually make Valentine sacks, but this year I'm trying boxes. We'll see how that turns out. Poor Kinderglynn. Sorry your kids can't make Valentines due to the economy. If it were me, I'd have the class make their own Valentines out of paper and still share in the experience.

I always do the same thing, decorate valentine bags. But I think this year I may try and have my firsties sort their Valentines and make a graph of how may cartoon characters, jokes, etc. they find on their valentines.

I usually go to a party store and purchase white gift bags. I then let the kids decorate them with foam peel and stick hearts, markers, stickers, and anything they can cut out of scrap paper from the scrap bin. They are always a hit and the kids love getting creative. On Valentine's Day, we set the bags out on our desks and then BEFORE we begin to distribute cards, we sit at our own desks and put the cards we will be giving out in the order of the seats so that when we do get up to give them out we go in a nice sequential order. I know it seems militant but they are so excited as is...I figure I make the moment as stress free as possible :) PS I love your site, it is amazing! I wish I had your talent! PPS I also have a Fancy Feast loving little munchkin :) Happy Valentine's day!

My kids make Valentine mail boxes with their families and we all bring them in on Valentine's Day. They get an art grade (everyone gets an A, but they don't know that)just for trying. I use the same box every year. It is the same box my oldest daughter made when she was in first grade (she graduates high school this year), so I have preserved it perfectly for sentimental value!

My students make Valentine boxes at home and bring them to school. We have the other 2nd grade class come in and vote on the boxes and I give a certificate for the most creative, and the most original according to the student's votes. Everyone gets a participation certificate if the bring a box in. They students love it!

I'm especially interested in the pie chart making! My class is making a valentine box from cereal boxes. Just posted a sample on my blog.

We are going to decorate craft bags with hearts. The catch is I'm going to attempt to teach them the trick to cutting hearts out of folded paper and how to fold it in fourths to make "heart flowers". I may also try to show them the trick to make heart outlines by cutting smaller and smaller hearts on the fold. Not sure how it's going to work out, but it should be fun!

I'm still trying to decide how to have them add their name to their bag... I may go buy some of those foamy sticker letters in valentine colors!

I am a follower. We make a paper plate bag. You fold two paper plates in half. Staple the plates together to form a heart. I round off the top corners of the plates to finish the heart shape. Punch holes to tie the string for a handle. They put on heart shape foam stickers.

I usually have the kids bring in empty tissue or shoe boxes and then we decorate them with all kids of valentine supplies from the Dollar Store. (i.e. tissue paper, stickers, foam hearts, construction paper, pom poms, feathers, etc) They all come out very different, but very cute! :)

I just love Valentine's day and have been searching for something to do with my 4th grade friends. My dream though would be to tech 1st or 2nd grade and I would love to use this unit with them. I think I will have kids create their own valentine's box with their parents at home when I have my own classroom, it is always a fun school to home project!

I am already a follower!
